About my Blog
Here, I will discuss solo travel from the perspective of a 22-year-old woman. I will also discuss the ethical and socio-political issues surrounding travel, including, but not limited to, sustainable travel, volunteering abroad, and inclusive travel.
An understanding approach to Sustainable Travel
Because we all have different circumstances, such as budgets, time, and accessibility requirements, the message is not about tourists and travellers needing to be ‘perfect’ when going away. For example, as a young woman, I will likely use taxis more often than walk, particularly in the dark, due to safety concerns.
Instead, it is about becoming aware and then doing what you can as a traveller. Sometimes, this can benefit you as well. For example, using locally owned businesses can often save you money as a traveller, plus visiting off-the-beaten-path destinations means you can escape the crowds.
I recognise that governments and businesses have a strong role to play in enabling sustainable travel. However, the small actions we take as travellers can have a significant impact on the surrounding community.
Content coming soon!
From over-tourism in Bali to a slightly cynical perspective on solo female travel and self-love, these are some of the topics I have planned to explore. Concerning the former, the good news is that you can still visit Bali! Regarding the second one, I have planned, but the bad news is that I don’t even know how to define self-love. I will also be posting more personal content, including my experiences with managing self-doubt. Meanwhile, there will be times when I ramble on about what I’ve been up to.
About me
I will keep this brief, as I have a separate post where I introduce myself.
However, I will be travelling for the following year. Between now and December, I will be visiting Croatia, Greece, Indonesia, Cambodia and Australia. When I travel, I aim to strike a balance between having a good time, creating content, and potentially working a bit. I will also be volunteering or interning for a short period. I am aware of the ethical challenges associated with volunteering abroad. Therefore, I took care to conduct research and participate in projects that closely align with my interests and skills.

Concerning travel, I am particularly looking forward to learning about new cultures, meeting new people, and exploring new places. I also love hiking, swimming in the sea, cute sunsets, anything adrenaline-related, and, admittedly, a few drinks.

If you’re interested in learning more about the socio-political and ethical issues surrounding travel, combined with the musings of a slightly hysterical 22-year-old, then please follow my blog so you don’t miss any posts.
